In San Diego County, green industries include construction workers who build eco-conscious homes, scientists who try to invent alternative fuels and electricians who install renewable energy systems.

At G.J. Fletcher Construction in Alpine, manager Deb Antista counts herself as part of the green economy because her company's modular homes are touted as being more energy-efficient than some conventional houses.

Antista and the company's owner are launching another business venture – builditgreenconcepts.com, which is part social networking Web site, part jobs board and part service directory with an ecological twist.

“We are just a couple of everyday people who have a desire to help other everyday people make a difference,” Antista said.
