5 Ways to Not Waste Money on Energy For Your House
Why spend money that you don’t have to? Why strain the environment any more then necessary. Well the commonly believed yet rarely mentioned explanation is that it’s just a lot of work to make the changes necessary to live a more energy efficient life at home. Fortunately this little bit of “common sense” just isn’t true. The fact is that there are dozens of little steps you can take which will save you oodles of cash on energy as long as you own, or live in your home- and most of them are really easy and inexpensive to implement. Here are a few:

  1. Sealant! Sealant! Sealant!

Among the many contributing factors to an energy efficient home, proper sealant is universal. Whether it’s the kickflap under your door or the sealant around your window this is of great importance throughout all the rooms in your house. By properly sealing your doors and windows you are effectively working to keep your home at the temperature you desire without expending extra energy and money to do so. This will keep your house cooler in the summer and warmer in the wintertime.

  1. Paint Your Roof White

This tactic may not be desirable, feasible, or practical for everyone however I had to include it because of it exempifies cheap and effective simplicity.  Simply painting your roof white can decrease your energy costs by 10 to 15% . And guess what, a white roof costs just about as much as a black one.

  1. Install Aerators and/or Flow Restrictors on Your Faucets

Here is another measure you can take, that once taken will save you untold heaps of money over the course of time as you go about your normal activities at home. You will be saving yourself money every time you turn on a faucet. Now some don’t like to have them on their showers because they feel that they excessively reduce the water pressure making for a less pleasurable showering experience. In that case try using a water saving shower head. They are fairly inexpensive and are designed to save water without sacrificing the your overall showering experience.

  1. Heres an Idea: Lightbulbs!

Here’s a joke from fatknowledge.blogspot.com: Q. How many environmentalists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? None, LED light bulbs last longer than environmentalists.

Again we have a very simple and inexpensive way to save energy for years to come- with no sacrifice to your current lifestyle.  Whether it’s led lamps or energy efficient bulbs changing over your lighting will pay for itself very quickly and is  very easy and inexpensive to do.

  1. Install an Energy Conservation Kit

What’s great about these kits is for one discounted cost you can purchase several elements of home energy efficiency and have them shipped right to your house. This makes so much sense that some countries governments are subsidizing or simply shipping them to people knowing the positive effect it will eventually have on both ecology and economy.  These kits come in many different sizes shapes and forms to fit a variety of households. Many of the best kits along with a host of other home energy saving products are available at AM Conservation Group for really great prices.

Of course there are a million other ways to save money on home energy use, these are just a few. If you have any other questions or would like some recommendations go to builditgreenconcepts.com and contact Deb or Isaac in the build it green community. Thanks for reading!
