Green Videos and Links
Our collection of green videos and links is always growing. Here you will find a healthy mix of green building, clean energy and cool eco-friendly how-to videos (in that order). Of course all of our articles are superb- but If you're like us sometimes you just need to see things for yourself. Enjoy!
Green Building Revolution
The world of green building is exploding right now as skyrocketing energy costs combine with increased public awareness to create the 'perfect storm' of sustainable architecture and construction. From the high tech skyscrapers of San Fransisco to the Earth Ships of New Mexico builders and homeowners alike are comming around to the idea that what is good for the planet is also good for their pocketbook.
In our first video we witness a boom in green building underway, with cleverly engineered libraries, office buildings, even public housing projects popping up across the Bay Area, and championed as much by landlords trying to cut energy and water costs as by environmental groups.
The Lowdown on Green Roofs...
Here is a quick segment by Building Green TV (check out my blog there) on green roofs. If your thinking of installing a green roof I suggest you take a quick look at this BIGC interview with the premier green roofing company of san Diego. Here we discuss the features and requirements of green roofing and how a green roof can benefit your home for decades to come.
If you don't know what a green or living roof is then definitley watch this video and find out. If you do- it's still a good little piece.
Tour De Green Architecture
Green architecture is just as diverse as it is necessary. Here is an interesting tour of some of the worlds prime examples of "low tech" green architecture. Earth Ships, spiraled structures and airy skylighted rooms all use the environment around them in a direct and logical way, depending less on technology, and more on direct integration with the surrounding elements.
Green architecture is also the title of a very interesting book by James Wines, which was the basic inspiration for this video.
